Behind the Feed with @walmartfinds
Walmart Creator Team
Krista Hooper has been sharing her favorite Walmart products on her popular account, @walmartfinds since 2016. So, when she was invited to join Walmart Creator’s Beta Program, her answer was an immediate “yes!” We talked to Krista about what drew her to Walmart Creator, what she’s learned over the years, and the advice she’d give to fellow creators.
Walmart Creator: When did you first join the Walmart Creator platform?
Krista Hooper: I moved to Walmart Creator in 2023 when it was still being tested in the beta version. I’ve been creating Walmart content since September 2016 & it’s been really cool to see how much Walmart has evolved over the years—from totally transforming their fashion & home offerings to building their very own Creator platform.
WC: What’s your favorite thing about being a Walmart Creator?
KH: I love the creative process & being able to turn my content into something my audience enjoys. There’s also something exciting about learning in the constantly evolving space of social media. Looking back to when I first started, I had no idea what I was doing. It’s surreal that I was able to turn my passion of sharing my favorite finds into a thriving business & I have Walmart to thank for giving me that opportunity!
WC: How do you stay on trend in a constantly evolving world? Any sources you look to or resources you use?
KH: Social media is definitely my main resource for spotting trends. I also like to look back at my trending products & posts from the previous year. It’s always fun when you’re shopping & you spot a product you know your audience is going to love!
WC: Tips for authentically promoting products on your channels?
KH: Share what you love! Your audience followed you for a reason—to see the products you love & recommend. And if it’s a product you really want to promote but you haven’t tried it yet, be transparent & let your audience know.
WC: What’s your #1 tip for driving sales through your content?
KH: Consistency! My page is mainly Instagram-based so I share content in my stories & share at least one Reel or post every day. Also, push your content out to a few other platforms to get more eyes on it. Don’t just post on Instagram, share to Facebook, Pinterest, your blog, or your Walmart Creator Storefront.
WC: How do you measure success for your content?
KH: Sales! If a piece of content does really well I keep an eye on what those items are & try to share more content like it. It’s called “niching down” which means you’re narrowing in on what your audience loves & sharing more content like it, which in turn, drives more sales.
WC: What Walmart products are you loving & recommending to your followers right now?
KH: Christmas decor! My Texas house has a gorgeous new tree this year that my followers love. Cozy sweaters & comfy sweatshirts are also a top pick lately.
